3 Great Ways to Relax

!±8± 3 Great Ways to Relax

I live in a big city where so many of us get caught up with the distractions in life. Moving at such a fast pace, we often lose sight of what's going on around us.

It wasn't until I lost my job where I realized how wound up and high strung I was. At this point, I decided that it was necessary to come up with a few regular activities that would help me to wind down, relax, and appreciate the simple things in life.

Here are three things I've found to be very effective and I hope they help you out.

1. Hot baths. If you're lucky enough to have a bath in your home, I'd suggest taking advantage of it a little more often. Not only have I started taking more of these as I find them to be both physically and emotionally soothing, but I'll carve out some time to play my favorite music as I sit and relax in the bath.

2. Reading a book. My friends and I recently started a new initiative where we all read the same book each month, only to gather and discuss the book at the end of the month. Not only is the process of reading really enjoyable, but so is getting together with them for coffee to do this.

3. Running. That might come as a surprise to you since running sounds like anything but relaxing. After all, you're putting your body through a lot of strain and you'll be exhausted by the end, right?

Well, not exactly. While it's obviously a tiresome activity, you'd be surprised at just how much more relaxed you'll feel after a great run. I sleep better and I generally feel great when I'm running.

If you really want to go all out, follow a run up with that bath for the ultimate relaxation experience.
